    Hello here is a little music box, does anyone know when this was made?

    We're unable to read the label. Can you get a closer picture *the right way up?

    What song does it play?

    The "shell" looks like abalone.

    Well, it's from New Zealand as the label implies ("Genuine N Z Paua Shell") and everything about it says post WWII to me and maybe a lot "post."

    if souvenir serves right, Breitler only made the main spring unity for Reuge and others.
    could anyone call af ? he'll know after a glimpse.

    The wood is rewarewa heartwood (from the 'heart' of the tree). It grows on the North Island of New Zealand.

    I love finding old music boxes and fixing them up. Love the wood on this one, very unique. The musical element looks a bit rusty hope it plays all right!

    you have to see it as two parts. the wooden box which is very nice by itself and the music box.
    Reuge sold these one song ones for 40 -60 $ a piece in the 70s and 80s to private people and lower to the industry. the cheap Sankyo Japan ones were much cheaper, faster broken and for collectors worthless today.
