I think it is an original piece rather than factory type but probably more like those tourists paintings? Signed Napolitano?
As far as the age, maybe 70-80's?
    Thanks

I think every painter who's ever been in France painted that scene......more than once !

Just to clarify - factory paintings are originals in that they are painted by hand by someone in a building that mass produces each design. I don't see this as being unique. We saw a gazillion of them in May when we were in Paris. Gone are the days when real artists sold their works on the Left Bank. Now it's all stuff like this.

Burnett is one of the popular signatures, makes you wonder how quickly the paintings are done.

I watched a TV show once that showed an assembly line set up. One guy paints the backgrounds on the canvases and passed them along to the next person who paints the blue then on to the next, etc. That was in Mexico. There are whole cities in China devoted to this art.

I can't speak of the quality of the painting or the skills of the artist but I don't understand why people expect a painting to look exactly like the real scene. If that is what they want they'd rather look at photographs.
Like someone would say " the book is better than the movie " I hate that. The movie should not be the same as the book. And it can't be the same.

What are you talking about? Mine is not a factory painting. Maybe by a corner artist, painted over and over again for the tourists. What makes you think it is a factory piece?

Corner artists are French factory painters. Seriously. I should have taken photos in May when I was in Paris of all of them lined up along the street selling 200 copies of the same painting. I just don't consider that high art. Every big city has them. Dime a dozen.

I have a photo of me & hubby sitting at one of the sidewalk cafes next to the artists if you need to see it to believe me.

    Note the price - they're usually 15 or 20 Euro, about $18-$25

    Hi Bev,
I had a real jolt many years ago. I was snooping/shopping in an attic in Paterson NJ. The house was old and gorgeous but falling down and getting ready to be torn down. I found and bought 3 really old oval shaped painting without frames, they were of old English lords and they were rolled up and quite dusty. I took the roll down and the lady selling the stuff said 5 dollars. I paid it without a hassle I bet if I said two dollars she would have said okay. I could not wait to get home, chuckling to myself all the way. When I got home I unrolled them and they were "Factory" paintings. I was in a fit but for 5 bucks I soon stopped. I went to AC Moore and found three oval frames that would work in holding them. I broke a few bits off here and there and then rubbed some gold colored wax here and there. I sold them to some "pickers" for 100 dollars each.

No, in America these are called "street paintings." Found in every major city of the world. They look like factory paintings, but in this case you can watch the artists churn them out.

We've eaten at the patisserie to the right of the lady in the green sweater.
