In the current clearance I am doing there is a lot of MOP Inlaid furniture, it's proving a little difficult to remove.

At first, I thought it was Moorish Moroccan furniture, but it turns out it may be Egyptian or Syrian.

Google Images describes this type of chair as Arabesque, Syrian, Damascus, Mashrabiya among other things.

There are 6 chairs, a trifold bedroom blind room divider, 2 sideboards, a book cabinet, two plant stands and chest/trunk

The deceased who I thought was an elderly Polish/German Jew turns out to be a 50-year-old German Catholic whose grandfather was a Nazi and his Grandmother was Egyptian.

I have all the family passports and all of them had made many visits to Egypt over the last 7 decades.

Only 2 photos at present, what do you think.

EDIT> Just realised there are 8 pointed stars in the inlay, this is common in Moroccan, Syrian and Byzantine cultures

Beautiful piece Davey-you find the most amazing damned 'left overs'. Sad how many seniors have no one that cares about them.

Yes, they are mine when I get them out, extreme hoarder, they are buried :D
Some have repairable damage, some of it deliberate.

Lots of Arabic items have deliberate damage.

When I visited Turkey years ago, I stayed in a new hotel.
I commented to the staff that there were brand-new windows and frames, yet every piece had a fault or minor damage.

I was told nothing can be perfect apart from Allah
