I think this may be a ceiling lamp globe. Not old. Fairly new in the last 20 years.

IMG_1059.JPG IMG_1060.JPG IMG_1061.JPG IMG_1062.JPG I don't know about ceiling lamp. The base loooks like made to sit on surface and quite of wear on the foot rim.

Ah, now that you show a picture straight on from the side, I see that I am probably wrong. Sorry.

It definitely is. That bottom is the giveaway.

Thanks. What's with the bottom that gives it away?

That almost honeycomb pattern in the moulding.

It looks like a flying saucer!:blackalien::greyalien::android::droid::cyclops::vulcan:

I wonder if it originally came with a lid.

Are the 'bubbles' coiled/spiraled like a snail shell? It looks like it to me, but am not sure if it's an optical illusion from the light and camera lens. Would that be the Buddha's hair design?

Is this a maker's mark or reflection:

I know, I know.... I'm all questions and no answers.

The bubbles are spiraled. Not clear from the pictures but they are impressed on the interior and raised on the exterior. So, no Buddha's hair.
Ownedbybear, that pattern is seen only on Empoli pieces?

It might well have had a lid.

I've only ever seen it on Empoli made items - there were and are several factories there, so you'll not pin it down more than that. But it's absoutely characteristic.
