From here, stone looks like lapis lazuli.

Think the stone is more purple than lapis. Low quality amethyst or maybe dyed quartz?

It photographs as blue & opaque. Amethyst can be cloudy but is not opaque. If it really is quite purple, sugilite is a possibility. I expect there will be more suggestions from the troops.

I was typing my long winded reply while komo nipped in with his succinct one. :)

It was my first thought too. Sugilite is opaque purple.

I take a contrary opinion..... and contend that my assertion is well founded in the annals of Antiquers threads both historic and recent , and that as a jewelry dealer since 1990 , I have handled this type of stone on many occasions and state my conclusions to be factual & accurate !!

So, in conclusion........ I'm stickin to my first thought !! :hilarious::hilarious::hilarious:

Here is a pic in strong LED light. Looks more like the samples shown. Reading the info about the company, the owner tries to source unusual stones.

Wow...pretty long-winded, as your pithy commentary goes...but, to be sure, I, too, concur!
