Let me start by saying, I know this is a reproduction and not Pre-Columbian!!!! I am trying to figure out if it is a repro of a figural Moche stirrup vessel - Peruvian or somewhere else?

    Thanks so much for looking! acoma13.jpeg acoma12.jpeg acoma2.jpeg acoma1.jpeg acoma16.jpeg

It is not a repro of a pre-Columbian vessel, but a very nice pre-Columbian inspired almost Modernist vessel.
I don't know if it was Moche inspired, the stirrup is more of a small handle, and figurine vessels were (and are) made by other cultures as well. The black colour is reminiscent of Moche/Chimú, but I think the inspiration could be from several cultures.
It also reminds me a bit of Shipibo pottery. Just a bit.;)

Thanks Any Jewelry. I just knew if I didn't put repro, someone would chastise me for thinking it was an 'old' vessel. It does have a great modern look.

    Anytime, Laura.
    Wise move.:)
It really is very nice, a cut above your average souvenir.

UPDATE!!!! I finally dragged this piece down from the shelf to dust it and spend some time trying to figure it out. When I brought it into the sunlight, lo and behold there was an etched signature! I can make out what looks like Nelson? La Serena Chile. Can anyone decipher the last name? Thank you! image1.jpeg image0.jpeg
