I have two pins, antique I believe, that are beautiful miniature paintings. Both are signed, but I can't read them, and both have a sticker on the back side in a different language. Can anyone give me any information on these? Thank you so much. 20200516_122810_compress46.jpg 20200516_123148_compress8.jpg 20200516_123128_compress73.jpg 20200516_122628_compress71.jpg 20200516_123108_compress78.jpg 20200516_123054_compress12.jpg 20200516_122810_compress46.jpg

They are gorgeous Russian miniatures, Katie. We need @April07 or @Figtree3 to translate the labels.:)

They are very beautiful, thank you. Yes, I'd be very interested in knowing what these say.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

I can't make out the handwriting on either one of them.

The printing on the first one says
Brooch [an abbreviation I don't know] "Landscape"
    Large
    350 rubles

(By the way, in today's exchange rates, 350 rubles is equivalent to $4.76 in U.S. money.)

Printing on the second one is very similar
Brooch [an abbreviation I don't know] "Landscape"
    Small
    296 rubles

    (Equivalent to $4.03 USD)

Перл. is short for перламутровая (mother-of-pearl) which refers to its shiny finishing. The barcode is strange as it doesn't mark Russia as production country, rather looks like some inner code. I believe they are new. Can't read the signature either.

It also seems strange that there is no production date printed on the barcode. Maybe they stopped printing dates in more recent years?

I found one by the same artist. The name is A. Vishnia. According to this description it is new, painted on natural mother-of-pearl. They mark it as Palekh, of which I have doubt. The sale price hete is as well low, 410 rubles.
