Hi all.Picked this up today because who doesnt need more storage ? Plus,I liked the look . :) Its 11 inches high,8 deep and 17 inches wide. What in the world was this used as ? Seems rather bulky and plain for jewels, and I highly doubt salesman sample,so maybe a dolls dresser ? Any and all input is appreciated.

Looks like a jewelry box. Mid-1960s from the lining.

I think jewelry, gloves, etc. 40s-50s seems about right.

    Hi,
Jewelry box from the late 50s. My ex wife had one. It was a match to her cedar chest. It was a give away with the sale of the chest and her bedroom furniture. i wonder if she still has it?

Yes, it is probably a jewellery box, but of course I would use it for fans. Perfect!
Just a bit worried, do you have to resort to microwave meals now, or have you found a new location for the fan box?:)

Who actually cooks anymore ? In 10 years we've used the oven 3 times ! Its mostly storage . Its just me and my elderly mother, anytime she or I cooks its always too much ! I swear by the toaster oven and microwave. :)
Thanks for the input all,Id have not thought jewelry box just because its so bulky .

    Hi,
I still cook!!! I use my microwave to do baked potatoes. I use it a lot to defrost stuff. Never ever had a toaster oven. In the summer heat if not using the out door grill I use an electric fry pan. I use my oven a lot. The other thing that never get used is paper plates.

I tell you Greg,a toaster oven saves so much in electricity ! Until I started using one I used the oven for everything and I saw a significant drop in our electric bill once I converted to toaster ovens. The trick is to get a good quality one. I still cook, but very simple things. Theyve got some great frozen foods out there now,and its SO much easier. Ive cooked for most of my life and Im SICK of it!

    TOASTER OVEN!!!!!!!!!!!

Want to make a nice samich with the flavour of toasted bread, but hate all the hard parts and crumbly nastiness? stack two slices of bread and toast THAT in the toaster oven................when it is done, each slice is toasted on one side, and nice and soft on the udder side..........................NICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Funny, I was thinking it had a homemade look about it. That adds some interest to the piece, for sure.
