Won a large lot, some good bad and ugly. Will be selling all piece by piece. Not expecting a lot. Would appreciate help in words for accuracy in descriptions and if any age. This little 4.5”/11.5cm vase has a nicely painted ming(?) style 3 claw dragon, which I like as I have little to no faith in me obtaining an authentic 5 claw. With this dragon’s long sickle claws, is this style dateable? While my photos are clear the art is not. I think I heard that colbalt blurs if the kiln is not the correct temperature *shrugs*. Did this size have a purpose or just decorative? Tourist piece???
    Thanks.

I know less than nothing about Asian porcelains but my gut says older.

Older, I’d say, it’s very like some ballast wares we find on the Thames foreshore.

I’d have said it looks interesting and maybe have some age. Then I saw Kent’s comp. First I said well damn, it really is old and interesting maybe. Then I looked closer. It appears to be a note for note copy of the eBay vase. Right down to the firing flaw/burn spots. I only looked quickly but even the wonky stance looks copied. After first noting the similarities I thought it had to be the same exact vase but there’s enough subtle differences to say it’s not. Looks like someone must have cranked these out though. Just a quick imho. I’m only 10% caffeinated, so more likely to say stupid things than usual but that’s my 10% view.

Maybe the eBay seller sold all their unsold pieces as a job lot to someone...

Could always keep it vague and let the buyer decide how old it is. That way you aren't being misleading. Decor definitely looks 19th C or older though.

The ones which show up here are seventeenth century ish. Not high value, because so many were made.
