Can anyone help me identify this? I'm assuming it's some sort of military button. I don't see any markings on the back side. Any information about this item is appreciated.

FlyingButtonRanch Crazy for old clothes buttons!

Your button has 2 countries Coat of Arms (Escudo de Armas) on it. The oval with symbols represents Bolivia and the symbols on the shield shape represent Peru.

I'd guess that it might be from the short lived Peru-Bolivian Confederation (1836-1839). It's a stud button (cuff or collar). Nifty!
