    Hi,
I have part of a belt buckle, I thought would be Canadian Military but not finding anything. I can find lots of badges with the beaver but not a belt buckle.
    Any ideas appreciated.
    thanks for looking.

Cxgirl, probably not the same because it is listed as a "Silver Beaver" award in the Boy Scouts of America organization and is given to Boy Scout leaders, but I wonder if other worldwide "scouting groups" give "beaver awards" or use other "beaver" symbols/imagery?

The one thing I can't reconcile with thinking it may be a "scouting" item is that most/all Boy Scout items are clearly marked in some way as being scout(ing) items. ;)

Is that some sort of marking in the "Swag" area?

My first guess would be that it is half of a fraternal org. sword belt, but it may be hard to pin down the specific group.

You are right, good eyes!! There seems to be markings on both sides. I can't make out the markings on the right, but may be 3 or 4 letters. On the left is a date year. It is either 1991 or 1891. I have taken the liberty of editing a pic by cropping, zooming in and adjusting the focus, lighting, coloring, etc... in hopes of better seeing the markings.

You might e-mail this guy who seems to know about Boy Scout belt buckles. If you scroll down way down the page to the large pics of the belt buckle look at #42. It is an oval with rope around it Boy Scout Beaver belt buckle. Somewhere I read it was made in nickel silver and silver.

Such areas as Beaver Mt. Ski Resort, Utah have souvenir beaver belt buckles. Oregon State Univ are the Beavers. Canadian Pacific used the beaver on some of their souvenir belt buckles. I just can't find one online exactly like yours. Your feeling of Canadian related seems the best bet if Boy Scout doesn't work out.

    Thanks for all the replies!
I had thought there was something there too, but when I examined it closely it looks like a design. In the photo you edited Susan (thank-you for that) it sure looks like numbers so I will try looking with a loupe when I get home.
Thanks for the links Susan - it seems lots of groups out there used the beaver, will update this if I find anything.

The beaver used to be the symbol of Canada, back when. You do have to be a little careful on Ebay boards when talking about beavers though. The thought police probably bleep the word out.(LOL) Dunno what they do to listings.
