    Hello again to all of you,As per my last thread regarding this Military Battle Picture,I want to tell you all that I decided to buy it and took the risk to find inside a Print or engraving..... So Bingo after opening it I discovered that it was an original ink and lavis drawing with a signature dateed at the back.
    I hope that those informations and details will help you to give me more accurate facts and why not discovery of this small beautifull drawing.
    Looking forward of your knowledge and accuracy to help me further.

    The name on the back isn't necessarily the name of the artist: other options include the owner of the picture, or the name of the battle. It looks to me like there's a date there: possibly 1806 or 1816?

    Apparently there wasn't a lot of fighting in 1806, and by 1816 Napoleon was on St Helena, so the wars were over.

    It's a nice picture and good that it's original. Appears to me to be on wove paper, which was common by the early 19th C.

    I don't know that painter, but looking online (Dirk Langendjk - alternate spelling) he died in 1805, so this would be a very late work for him (even if I'm misreading the date). He did do this kind of thing, so it's not impossible. He had a son, Jan Anthonie Langendjk, who also did this kind of thing. I don't know who you could contact for an authoritative appraisal.

    Just have investigated a wee bit.. Jan Anthonie Langendyk signature...Looks alike quite similar to my drawing...If it is... I think a very good buy;..???
