I usually put down commercial crystal objects, since I have limited room and use the space mainly for art glass. In this case, though, the luscious, sensual feel and weight of this crystal bowl magically transported me over to the cash register. On my way there, a man said to me "European crystal." This intrigued me to find out more about this bowl, which to him was immediately recognizable. I hope someone can give me some ideas of where it might have originated from. It is 4 inches tall and 7 1/4 inches in diameter and weighs 3.67 lbs or 1,666 grams. I'm sorry the photos are not the best. I did buy a light box, but am waiting for it to arrive. Edited: @SBSVC identified very quickly as Mikasa Slovenia. Any comments will be gratefully appreciated.

I still love it, don't get me wrong. I was just hoping for something more exotic. :)

Is Mikasa a producer or a marketing company? I've lost track.

I'm not sure of what they would be exactly described as I don't have your technical expertise. From what I gather, they started off as an importer and then turned to producing their own lines. Before it was bought out, Mikasa used to have a range of dinnerware that was sold at department stores and then there were their own stores. in 2008, they had a huge sell off of merchandise around here. I think they were closing stores.
