Mid Century bamboo plate with some Sacramento History

    Good morning from California and Happy 4th of July!
    I picked up this piece a while ago. it is 12" diameter. I think it was about a Dollar.
    The writing on the back interested me the most.
    What i found out.
    On July 1st 1963 The work on the Sacramento deep river channel was completed and the celebration with thousands attending for
    the grand opening of the Port of Sacramento The Taipei Victory
    Coming from Hong Kong was the first ship to reach the port.
    I am not sure why the captains name is on the plate though.
    I just thought it was cool and wanted to show you all.

    Maybe some sort of souvenir if the ship had local VIPs on board or perhaps tours while docked?
