Went to an estate sale a few weeks ago. It was run by the family (usually a good thing but not so much in this case.) Everything was way overpriced. Tons of low-medium grade clear glass crystal, tables full. Asking in the hundreds. Sale had been open for 6 hours and all the glass appeared untouched. I felt kind of bad for the family because I suppose at some point this would all have been worth more. They even had a few plants -- a large one, nice but nothing crazy, asking $150 (!) I was there pretty late, so possible I missed some interesting things, but I digress...

I make one last sweep through, and here is this stool that I hadn't seen with a $5 tag. The $150 plant had been on it, and someone bought the plant while I was there!

Stool is not for resale, giving it to a college age young friend who is into "the industrial look".

Wanted to be able to tell this friend what era it came from. Measures 26". Guessing this is either 1930's or 50's. About right?

Here are photos which include what might be a vintage piece of gum on the base:

    Hi,
Had for plants. One would sit in the circle on the bottom. Older than you think, I believe it is the 40s.

Gila, I love it, too. Was a total no-brainer at $5. It is a look that is very popular where I live and it would be so great for a plant.

Johnny, me too. Ironic with all of that overpriced stuff. It would have been long gone by my competitors, but was hidden under the plant.

Thank you Greg and Brad. I wondered if it was older still with those square nuts. Well, have a ball park date now. Thank you! :)

    GaleriaGila Hola, y'all!

I'll take that off your hands for 6 bucks all day long, Lucille! What a great, great little stool. I'd like to call it (Almost) Antique Deco-Industrial.

    Very nice. Good spotting.
It would be funny to do a DNA test on the gum!
