Looking at the closeup picture of the artist's initials, it looks like this might have been made of plaster (or some such material) and then painted the silver color.

 

Thank you. Is there a way to tell if it’s plaster?

 

Another possibility is clay - the kind you use for modeling. What sound do you get when you tap it with a finger nail?

 

Like I tapping sound There are areas that are shiny like metal though

 

A dull thunk sound? Or a sharp metallic sound?

 

Looks to me like the original was modeled in clay, but think this was cast from a mold made from the model. (How's that for alliteration?)

If it feels cold & metallic to you, it is probably metal, just don't think you can make any statement about what kind of metal. Pewter is sometimes used for this sort of thing, but color does not look right for that.

Metal relief sculpture of a mother and child, perhaps the Madonna, mounted on wood panel. Unless one of our woodies can name the wood, can't think what else there is to say apart from measurements. Is it heavier than you would expect for the size?

 

A mass produced Madonna and Child. Likely to be Italian. The kind of thing that's sold in a bonbon shop.
