    Greetings all,

Anyone good with teddy bears? Spotted this fellow in the window of a local charity shop, decided to buy him for £20.00 to sit in a child’s armchair I have - probably a bit pretentious of me, but I thought he was beautiful:shame: Honestly, I cannot tell if his stuffing is sawdust or anything else (maybe too soft feeling for stuffing?); his joints are metal with a tiny amount of rust. Eyes are likely glass from their feel, and their resistance to body heat. No labels or buttons to indicate a maker.

Also— and I think I know the answer to this, but - should I consider any kind of cleaning besides maybe a careful bagging and some time in the freezer?

He's lost much in a well-loved (or much-abused) lifetime, but he's as adorable as he is sad. The long arms are suggestive of Steiff. What's the metallic-looking disk? Does it wind up an internal music box?

The poor thing is as old as the dickens. It might be worth finding a bear group on Facebook or wherever and showing them that shoulder joint. I'd bet it IDs the bear.

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

He seems to have been "Loved to Death" - still cute as the devil though!!!

He bears some resemblance to this one:

He does have a Steiff look.
Van, did you check his ears for a small metal stud/button?
I am glad you want to give him pride of place, he is so sweet.:bear::happy:

Sadly not - I am trying to think of a name which is not “Nelson” (too on the bear’s nose) ;)

Komo beat me to it- the disk is his arm joint, visible now because the whole arm is missing. I felt him carefully, nothing solid inside the torso as far as I can tell. Thank you for weighing in, all thoughts always appreciated!:)

Might finally be the reason I re-discover my old Facebook log-in details? Thanks, good idea!

Thanks Any Jewelry! :D:D Sadly no studs, and {happily?} his ears aren’t torn. No harm in hoping though, I suppose?
