Not all jewellery but I thought I’d keep them together in one thread.
I went to a car boot sale and saw a bowl of finds, didn’t buy but came back to have another look. Unfortunately the seller had just the mistake of walking round barefoot….and she had a rusty scythe for sale……so I provided first aid supplies and bandages and made helpful suggestions such as wiping the blood off the scythe before it put the buyers off.
Anyway I digress, as a Thankyou she gave me the bowl of finds.
A nice bronze ring , a curious GR clasp and a toasted pin thingy that I have no clue about.
The GR tag is confusing as it doesn’t match any royal cyphers I can find, it’s got a c between the G and the R.
Any thoughts on any of these would be welcome.
    Thankyou :)

Is this where you're seeing the C?
    upload_2024-6-28_0-55-20.png
If so, are you sure it's a C and not an optical illusion due to a scratch mark, like the G seems to have?

If it's supposed to be there, that line should also be visible on the back, right? Not clear from the photo if it's there or not.

Ah yes, when you see it like that it’s a curl off the R with a bit of damage making it look like a separate letter! Well spotted @Marote , Thankyou.
The closest is George VI but it’s not the same, different curls and no VI. Maybe artistic license was used!

I had to look up the word scythe...Its not good for me. I have a very lively imagination and I can really see those things happening in my mind!
    :zombie::zombie::zombie:
Luckily my family knows me well and they never tell stories about blood when I m around.
Anyhow, I dont know anything about these things, so no help there, but the bronze ring is nice!

I’d contact the local Portable Antiquities about the ring.

I've never understood going around barefoot, especially in the vicinity of a scythe!! Some people . . . need to think about their feet . . . like keeping them safely inside shoes.

That was the best part of the story.:D
Scythes and broken glass aside, there is always the risk of ticks and Lyme's disease.

I never ever wear sandals or flip flops at car boot sales. Always good stout shoes, proper socks and jeans.

Leaving aside dog Pooh, there’s ticks, bugs, the odd snake and all sorts in that grass.

    Ooooh…….thats exciting! Thankyou Kyra :)
I think Death had taken the night off and just left his scythe and a sprinkling of Darwinian natural selection to do his job for him
I packed her off to hospital with an instruction to get a jab!
I’ve been trying to think of the word to describe it, Torc! I should have thought of that. Off to google again.
    Thanks everyone

I'm one of them  Once bitten, twice shy? I keep get bitten over and over again.
I often do DYI jobs barefooted ...
Had glass in my foot, almost drilled in my foot, dropped a piece of plasterboard on my foot (still have a scar as reminder). And a few years ago, I was trying to fix a retractable awning that didn't open anymore... Positive side of the story: Took it down, and after some time I managed to get it open again. Downside: it jumped open, and apparently flip flops don't provide much protection. Got a piece of skin scraped off :bag:

I work with horses and we are constantly reminded of the dangers of wearing flip flops around them! In case anyone forgets, there is a graphic photo of someone’s (partial) foot that does the rounds on Facebook!
