Grabbed this today. Not sure if it has utility or is purely decorative. Is it for hanging something off perhaps? Or maybe it came as a pair and they sit in the top corners of a gate, doorway or passage way? It's about 30cm in length and has some weight. Brass I guess, given the green hue on the end of it.

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

It's a lovely piece, However, does it look like something is either broken off, or has been cut off where I've circled??

That thought had crossed my mind too but the end of this part has bubbles in it as if it is the end of the casting perhaps. I have taken a photo of this but it's not very clear. There are two of these and the other has a bolt in it. Seems as though the one with the bolt in it was secured to something and the one you have highlighted just sits flush against another surface maybe. I will take a clearer photo and see what you reckon.

There are 2 points of attachment, the other higher up, but it doesn't seem to be a right angle situation. If they were attached to either side of a vase, it must have been very large. Corner brackets on some fancy console table?

I've seen similar things on console tables online. Would have thought the bracket without the bolt would face up as a support. Not discounting it though

I think pieces like that aren't necessarily meant to be structural, just decorative. I wouldn't think it's a load bearing bracket, whatever its purpose.
