Metal box

    This metal box was passed down to me from my grandmother. I doubt it's a collectible, but I've always been curious as to what it was used for. I wouldn't be too curious about it except it has an embossed alligator skin pattern.

    Would appreciate any comments or information.

    It's a nice one with the textured surface. Not sure if there was any specific use beyond protecting important documents etc from fire.

    Definitely a home (not very) strong box. A place to keep important papers together. Unless it has very thick, heavy walls, it probably was not meant to survive a fire, just to grab & go in case of one.

    Love the crocodile pattern. It may be more collectible than you think, but know that if I had inherited it, I would not want to part with it.
