I found this at my friend's thrift store last week, it has a cool steam punk look + it looks like it may actually perform some kind of service/job, but a image search didnt turn up another.
A friend told me it was a medical quack device & since I also found along with it a 1920's - 1930's ear scope, I'm wondering if this was some kind of medical device - legit or quackery?
Can anyone help with what this?

PS - last 2 photos are of the ear scope and(!) I someone who loved corvettes must have divorced his wife & in response she donated his stuff! I got corvette models, corvette books, a 50th anniversary corvette thermometer & the best - a Bally Corvette pinball game back glass art!
    Happy New Year everyone!

Cautery is a procedure that uses heat from an electric current to burn tissue and seal off blood vessels to reduce bleeding.

A cauterization device, missing its battery..
Portable, so might have been used in the field.

The ear scope is much the same as they are today.

So it's a real medical device?!
Same age as ear scope ('20s - '30s)?

Really cool find Journey. Also nice image grab @Komokwa.The cool brass & glass piece on the extreme left is called a 'Kelvin Astatic Mirror Galvanometer'.
Komo's group of 3 was sold on 'Invaluable' for $150.'Invaluable' seems to be a collection of various auction houses and some of the sold prices on it seem pretty cheap.
Anybody here ever use it,and/or...what's the catch ?

In the slip-shod world of web commerce they can call it anything they want.Phony attribution's a regular thing these days.
It may have been referred to as both a 'Cautery' & 'Voltage Regulator' back in the day.

There used to be and may still be in biz, a person who collected a lot of medical devices and made it into a museum. I don't remember where it was. Maybe google it??
