Today I bought these small (10cm) framed medallion portraits. I believe painted plaster. Judging by the fashion 18/19th century females. Any ideas who they are? How old these might be?

Seem to be nicely detailed, for sure plaster casts? Any air bubbles?

Early 19th century. (Think Jane Austen.)

Yes plaster, there is a small chip on one of them on the side. Good quality I guess I don't know

I was identifying the costumes. I very, very much doubt that the pieces themselves are that old. I think you'll find they're modern, mass-produced decorative items. If they were from the Regency period, they'd more likely be unique items produced from paper like this one.

What do the backs of your pieces look like? Could/would you post a photograph?

Sorry, Matt, but a description isn't very helpful in ascertaining age.

I agree, modern decorative pieces. Maybe inspired by Parian ware?
The frames are probably original, but the casts would look better if they had a bit more space around them.:)

The ratio of frame to silhouette is one of the tip-offs that they're modern, isn't it. An example of Parian ware silhouettes (and their framing) below.
