Although I did find similar from India, but a different shape and mounted on a poorly cast turtle figure.
This is a heavy cast brass/ bronze about 41/4" tall when closed and heavy at 12 oz.
When you twist the center part it turns on the screw and opens and closes.
    Any thoughts appreciated.

It is Indian, maybe 1960s. Elegant and pretty. Maker isn't relevant in this case.:bag:

I'd think a diya (ceremonial oil lamp) rather an incense burner...

It doesn't seem to have anything for the wick. That is usually either a spout or a tube like thing in the centre.

Yes, it is just like a little concaved bowl in the center. Lots of usage for sure though.
    Thanks for all the replies.

Have little time, must run some errands before it starts pouring, but here are a few examples...

These are plain round silver diyas in various sizes:

This is my silver diya, double-walled for the heat since it doesn't have a pedestal, 1.75" in diameter, 1" tall:

Thanks Cheryl, I never realised those were diyas, I often see them listed as incense burners.

My diya is an antique one from Kashmir, cast copper with a naga handle, and shaped a bit like a sauce boat, so the wick rests on the spout. Pretty much like oil lamps from antiquity.
That one shows how the wick goes, just over the side. They are very pretty, but not the safest construction, the wick can slide into the ghee or fall out.
    That is a sweetie.

Thank you @DragonflyWink and @Any Jewelry
I would have listed it as an incense burner,
But that's why we have knowledgable people here like the two of you. It is much appreciated.
