Hey, I have the opportunity to get a steel MCM tanker desk, brand is "Steel Age"....wondering if it's worth my time (I know they are heavy as all getout!) for resale.....I had a wood one that I flipped for a cool $500, I'm in the Seattle area so I am in a great market for these sorts of things.....

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

Well, we LIVE by IMAGES, and whatever markings are on them, so if you have some, we're going to need to see some!!!:happy: From various angles, indicate size, and whatever information you have on it!! Thanks!!

Steel Age appears to be a brand name used by Corry-Jamestown Mfg of Corry, PA. There's definitely a demand for the steel tanker desks but they tend to be harder to sell because the size and weight don't work for many.

What does a steel tanker desk look like?

Here are two Steel Age desks. Tanker usually refers to the double pedestal type on the left.

Would not be worth it at any price in my Midwest neck of the woods. You would know better about Seattle. Might depend on what you can get it for.

Agree, I'd be lucky to get $300 for it here in Central Texas. Then have to weigh (pun intended) the cost of moving/storing/delivering, plus it looks like it needs some work. Would have to be $50 or less for me to even consider taking on this beast.

If I had a strong person to help me move it, space to work on it, and if I didn't have 20 other projects to finish, I'd probably grab it. Just be prepared to wait a little longer for the right buyer.

There is a reason the owner is willing to give it away: because it is the only way he can get rid of it!

Do you really want to move it, store it and then have to search for someone else to take it off your hands?

Yeah, this is the kind of piece that you usually have to PAY someone to get it out of the house in my area. :p
