DSCN9155.JPG A friend gave me some, and I'm wondering about the shipping.

Here are photos of a couple.

As long as there are no other ads inside the catalogs, I believe you can ship media mail.

Co-incidentally, I have volume IV of the Giuseppe Rossi catalog: Porcelain, Paintings, Silver and Decorative Arts. Makes you wonder about volumes I and III. Makes you wonder about these people who live like kings.

I love the eye candy in auction catalogs, but the one thing they demonstrate is that when you go, your stuff shortly follows.

I never gave a thought to there being more volumes! WOW!
Just how much stuff was there?!

From USPS website (looks to me like auction catalogs qualify since they are books over 8 pages):

    Media Mail Service
Media Mail® service has special eligibility requirements for permissible contents. Media Mail rates are limited to the items listed below:
    • Books (at least 8 pages).
    • Sound recordings and video recordings, such as CDs and DVDs.
    • Playscripts and manuscripts for books, periodicals, and music.
    • Printed music.
    • Computer-readable media containing prerecorded information and guides or scripts prepared solely for use with such media.
    • Sixteen millimeter or narrower width films.
    • Printed objective test materials and their accessories.
    • Printed educational reference charts.
    • Loose-leaf pages and their binders consisting of medical information for distribution to doctors, hospitals, medical schools, and medical students.
Media Mail Packages may not contain advertising except that books may contain incidental announcements of other books and sound recordings may contain incidental announcements of other sound recordings. In accordance
with standards in the Mailing Standards of the United States Postal Service, Domestic Mail Manual (DMM 300) 173.3.2, Media Mail Packages are subject to inspection by the Postal Service™. Upon such inspection, matter not eligible for the Media Mail rate may be assessed at the proper rate and sent to the recipient postage due, or the sender may be contacted for additional postage (DMM 604.8.1).

These are small reference books, I suggest you check to make sure first class isn't less expensive. Sometimes the postal prices for first class are unexpectedly low.

Thanks, Spring. I read the USPS stuff, but I also know they can be so very picky so I thought I would 'ask around". LOL

Anti, most of these are quite heavy so I really think MM will be the best way to go, but I will check to be sure.
One of them is over an inch thick, and one is even a hardcover!
And they are all about 8.5" x 11".
Pretty cool stuff in them, so I hope I can make a few bucks on them.
Will have to research some of the names to see if they are "someone". :D

    Thanks, Anti!
When my friend said she had these, I was expecting something like pamphlets - not full sized books!
    :hilarious:
