    Picked this up today for a song. It looks like a painting by Maria Gianni. Same style and signature. It looks to be gouache with highlights of oil over the top for the leaves on the trees.

    That is possible and it had crossed my mind. I was more thinking of the word 'counterfeit' :eek:

    Not really much way of establishing it's legitimate is there? The frame is obviously quite modern but it may have been reframed over the years. I wouldnt like to take it out of the frame to look for indicators of age, as it looks like the gouache is crumbling in small areas and the oil paint is flaking. Any interference will cause further damage.
