Hi all! We just received 3 boxes of approximately 45 slides each. I’m trying to understand what we have.

Box end of one looks like this

Three examples of the enclosed 3-1/4” x 4” glass slides are below.

    1) Is there anyway I can tell contents by the labeling on the side?

    2) Why do some have what appears to be a bullseye on the slide? Some have circles, etc, over the photograph. Why?

Anything else you can tell me to help find a proper home for them? Many thanks and kindest regards,

If you read through this Wiki article about the company, you'll see in the section entitled Stereoscophthalmic Department that they made slides for eye testing and eye-training for a number of uses starting in the 30's. Given the strange bulls eyes and circles, I'd say this is a good guess for what these are.

"Unit Title" would lead one to believe that the box was intended to hold slides designed to support a school lesson and the 2/color illustrated slides do, in fact, look like they could be used for a lesson on American Indians. What type of images are on some of the other slides?

@Bakersgma , thanks. They are so interesting and I’m afraid to sell them without knowing more. I’ll take a look at the wiki entry:)

Hum... Well, some clearly belong to a "ring series," whatever that is. But does appear to be a mixed lot.
