Made of concrete, George Washington's face(?) - are these bookends or off a building?

I found these on the bookends shelf at a thrift store today. But they are made of concrete (look at last photo where there is a chip on one's nose & the other's hair tip)& do not have smooth bottoms; are these bookends? (They look like they came off a building's façade to me)
    They measure 10" T x 4" W
Any idea what they are if not bookends and/or how old they are?
    Thanks!

Garden ornaments - wouldn't they have flat/smooth bottom?
Is that what they are (I need to know so I know what to call them when trying to sell!)
    Thanks

These look more like hydrocal than concrete to me. As such, they are replicas for interior decoration only.

verybrad, I think they are concrete or some stone - they are very heavy.

There is a seam visible down the center of the back, which would indicate they were cast in a 2-piece mold, not individually carved. This would suggest more decorative, mass produced. They may be based on an architectural corbel/support bracket, though probably not used as such.

Hydrocal is heavy. Just not as hard or durable as concrete. Also does not weather well if untreated. The bubbles seen are more typical of hydrocal than concrete. Also the way it has taken stain is more typical of hydrocal. If hydrocal, you should be able to cut into the bottom fairly easily with a knife.
