Bought 3 dolls, all have ALEX on their back. The arms and legs are strung with some kind of elastic. Dolls are plastic and are about 7 1/2" tall. Eyes open and shut. The dolls in pink have the same type of hair. Are these from the 1930's?

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

The doll reference site says that Alexander-Kins first appeared in 1954. Yours do appear to be early, perhaps 1950s, to me. Just based on photos. Since yours just say Alex they would be from before 1976.

    From Doll Reference site:
"1954-1994 Alexander-Kins doll, Billy, Quiz-kins, Wendy Ann, Wendy, Wendy-Kins, 7 1/2 - 8" tall, use the Wendy face mold. Many Alexander-kin dolls are unmarked or marked: ALEX. After 1976 marked: ALEXANDER"

Thanks Fig. I see my roller skating doll is a Wendy mold. What about the other 2? Are they Wendy molds too?

    Hi Kath!

Does your last doll have an open mouth?

    Could be "little genius".

Would have a caracul wig also, which yours might have had....not much left tho, lol.

Kath....I have an Alexander book......(patricia smith). If you can find a copy at the library, it will help you.

There are so many variations........walker, bent leg, etc. etc. how they are marked, etc.

I've never been a collector but have bought and sold quite a few in the past.

I think that if the skates belong, they will be marked on the bottom. Not sure about that tho.

I looked for outfits like yours but didn't see any at a glance.

They would also be marked if they are Alexander's clothes.

I have to run out otherwise I'd go through my book more thoroughly.

Judy, no all dolls have a closed mouth. I took a few better pictures. Could be a little genius, the caracul wig looks right. Thanks!

I don't think those ice skates go with that cotton daytime ensemble. Madame Alexander skating outfits typically look more like this.

Hi Kath......went through my MA book this morning......

No pictures show a roller skater.....just ice skater. As you realize the outfit she wears with the skates is incorrect, but I did not see the outfit pictured....could've missed it also.

Here are a couple of pictures that might help you.

Also, "little genius" could be Bill.

Just checking the book again, it does state she had roller skates. Outfit is slightly different than the one pictured above and different hat, but she was put out as a roller skater. Book does not show the rollers though......unless one reads the description, one would think that they were just black shoes. Not the best book for some important details when selling. Lots of photos.
