Featured Lovely Small Watercolor: Mystery Woman and Artist

Does anyone recognize or have any thoughts about this 10 x 9" piece. It may be initialed JS on the bottom left.

Have you removed it from the frame? Sometimes the artist would note the sitter or date or even sign on the back of the work.

 

It appears to be hand made paper. I also see a faint "JS" on the bottom.

There are a lot of reproduction sites selling this painting. The original artist is German painter Josef Lieck, "Girl with Headscarf".

 

It's a good suggestion. I only do that as a last ditch effort in an attempt to id professionally-framed pieces because it is costly to have them redone and slows down sales of items I want to quickly flip.

Re-fit shouldn't be much of a charge, but if you sell art on the regular you might consider a point gun or driver so you can diy them back into the frame yourself. Also a roll of Kraft, a razor/blade, and a roll of ATG tape if you want to get fancy with replacement of dust covers.
