Love antiques!

I have been looking for a good antiques message board. My husband and I love antiquing. We have some pieces that we are researching the background on. Thought this sight may help us, plus we enjoy looking at what others have found. We recently purchased this beautiful cabinet and were told by the dealer that it came out of a hardware store. My folks, who are avid antique collectors, think it's more likely a piece of office furniture. Anyone know?

Dimensions would help and perhaps details that show drawer construction? Are the drawers "index card" sized?

Very nice piece. I have had something similar on my list of things I would like to own LOL. If it was the right size it would be ideal for the wife to stash knitting/crocheting supplies.

I'm sorry, the cabinet itself is 54"tall and 3' across the front, is 2'deep. Hope that helps with visualizing the size. The inside of the drawers are a little stained and some minimally warped. I am a photographer and into scrapbooking big time, so I plan to use it to organize and store my "stuff". And you all obviously caught my post before I edited it to include a downsized pic. Sorry, I'm new. I'll get better!

 

While I can imagine that an office that needs a gazillion forms might find your cabinet useful, it looks to me very like the one (or one of the ones) my grandfather had to keep nuts, bolts, nails, screwdrivers, etc ad infinitum.

The staining inside of the drawers - like water or oil or paint? The size and all those "label holder" pulls certainly sounds more like hardware than typical office furniture.
