Aside from the horrific attacks and loss of life on Sept. 11, 2001, the Helen Keller archives were stored in a Bank of America vault in the WTC. These were lost.

I'm curious, does anyone have any idea what other prominent collections, antiques, artworks, or other treasures were destroyed on that terrible day?

I remember reading at the time that Cantor Fitzgerald had a large collection of Rodin sculptures. Ive often thought about this subject, then I start thinking about the horror of it all and I prefer not to . Its a grueling memory this year in light of everything else to be depressed about .

i'm surprised that a bank vault would not have withstood the collapse.....

It had to withstand both the weight & the heat. Can paper combust if it gets hot enough, even if not in direct contact with flame? It got a lot hotter than 451F.

    Hi,
I remember reading about a lot of gold coins that were melted together from the WTC in a bank vault.

There seems to be a controversy on not all the gold being recovered.
