Not my piece, but the owner gave me permission to inquire about it. I have to test it, but am guessing the gold is not a typical carat. The piece was fashioned from a larger one bought in the Cambodian market in the late 60s / early 70s. It was one of few items brought here by the family, who found asylum in the states during the Civil war between the Khmer Rouge and Kingdom of Cambodia in the mid 70s.

I'm thinking, based on the design / look, it probably was crafted in India or Thailand. Also, assuming that the natural diamonds (one of which is missing from the setting), rubies, and emeralds are real, I'm wondering what it is approximately worth.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Hi, until you find out what the gold is and if the stones are in fact real there is no way to guess at a value. Have them take it to a good jeweler to have the gold and stones tested :)

Indian, probably 20 or 22 ct. The stones look typical of an older Indian cut - it's a wedding piece. Probably emerald, might be rubies, but might also be something like pink saphhire or pink tourmaline.

That's a serious piece, don't let any old jeweller look at it.

@Any Jewelry ? Mughal in style?

It is stunning, dude. Be careful with it, and what you or the owners do with it.
Thai.;) Many South and Southeast Asian jewellery styles are related.
It is a traditional Thai design, like this one:

It could be 22k. The rubies look like they could be Burmese, the diamonds could be Borneo diamonds from Indonesia. The emeralds could be Indian.

dude, when it comes to assessing the style of a jewel, it always helps if you show the actual jewel, not just details.;) With just the details and a few blurs it was no surprise obb thought of India. I just happened to recognize the shape on the blurry pics.

Some related Thai pendants, these are more recent, the stones are matched better:

Is this a deliberate mark or a blemish?

My opinion is not 50s costume.

Do you mean on the side of the main bezel? I thought that was a reflection, but could be wrong.

Yes, that place. I frequently misread depth in photos, so just have to ask what I'm seeing. So, to refine: mark?; flaw?; lighting artifact?

I think the latter, but @dude can probably shed some light on it (pardon the pun).:)

I don't have the piece in front of me, but I'm guessing lighting artifact.
