Hello! I purchased these two items at an auction. Just looking to identify what they are. My husband is guessing some type of old wooden plug. Anyone know what they are and approximate age? Curious.
The oval portion is approx 12”X18” and the arm is approx 24” long.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Was thinking wood press but I can see that your husbands idea is more likely. No idea, but they are interesting. Huge wine barrel bung hole plugs ? Just throwing it out there ..........

@Landee I'll ask my Dad about this .... he worked at the tannery 27 years ...tannery was around since 1860's..... the huge drums that turned the leather..... could be the plug .... just brain storming ....where are you located ?

My Dad built many of these

@Landee , I asked my dad and showed him the pictures, he could not say one way or the other as by the time he started working there in the late 50's things had changed, evolved ... my guess is they went from open pit tanning way back in the mid / late 1800's to drum tanning.... anyway , he seems to think they too are some sort of large wine cask / wood barrel plugs ....if you find out please post back here...they are interesting !
