The carbon-steel blade is ~10" long, straight as a string. It tapers in width from 1/2" at the ferrule to ~5/16" at the radiused tip, an' in thickness from 0.070" at the ferrule to 0.025" at the tip. The grip is ~1" diameter max, 4 1/4" long; its ferrule is carbon-steel as well.
I've shown it to various folks for several years, many with enough age an' deep kitchen experience to be reliable witness to its possible purpose. Aside from the obvious acknowledgement that it is, indeed, a spatula...no person has had an answer to the question. Lots of guesses...almost all having to do with frosting distribution on a cake. I'm not convinced. Perhaps a few of you good folks can shed some accurate illumination on this wee puzzle. Thanks for lookin'!

Cake splitter? Dexter makes professional kitchen ware, so odds are this wasn't made for home use.
