Hi everyone, I've had this coral necklace for 6 years trying to decide what to do with it. I thought I would restring it but I haven't gotten to it. The clasp is nicely made, I tested it and it is 14k. Why anyone would need a clasp on this long a necklace is anyone's guess. I was also thinking I could restring it without a clasp and use the clasp on another coral necklace I want to restring. Or I'm wondering now if I should sell it as is for repair.

I bought it from a family selling their sister's, mother's, grandmother's and great grand mother's jewelry that had been passed down over many generations and just ignored. I can't tell you how much fun I had sitting their for days sorting through all the jools, my idea of Heaven :)

Anyway, this is very long and I am wondering how old it is. My thought is it may be from the 1920s, flapper length. Opened up it is about 54" (137 CM).

Hidden ball clasps tend to be 50s and they made necklaces that long in the 50s. The clasp was there so you could wrap it as many times around your neck as you wanted. Restringing on like that is going to be a real bear.
