Hello Everyone! I could use some help with this little vase. It stands about 4 3/4" high and about 2 7/8" across the bottom. It is nine-sided and both top and bottom are beveled. I think the flower might be a poinsettia or a lily. The flower, leaves, and stem look like they were cut and then etched? Or are they molded and etched? It has a twenty point star on the bottom. Really a nice vase but I have no idea where to even start searching. Any help would be much appreciated.

    Hi,
Usually when I find that even star pattern on glass I turn to Libby first.

The star pattern originated in the 1840s as a way to disguise the pontil scar. The piece could be stuck up, tooled and broken off without leaving much of a scar. It has continued in use ever since. Mostly as a decoration.

The flowers look as if they were part of the mold, then they were either acid etched or sand blasted, then the flutes were cut and polished, ditto the chamfers. From the pictures I can't tell if the bottom was ground and polished or not. I'd guess it was.

be sure and spell the MOSER with one "S". For me it has more of a Scandinavian feel.

Thank you greg, cluttered, cherryhill, and George ;)! I thought it might be an import but never thought of Moser. And the terms, sand-blasted, intaglio, and chamfers. I'm at a point where I can't seem to always retrieve the terms I need to properly describe an item. Am most appreciative that y'all have my back. I'm not too worried about value as I think this little guy has brought me enough smiles to earn a place on my crystal shelf. I've started to keep a spring binder where I print the info out for the items I keep and store for future use. Thanks again for all your help!

Sorry, didn't catch that. I did spell it correctly when I searched, just not when I posted here.
Mosser is the American glass. Moser is Czech.
