Little boy blue 14.75" porcelain figure

So I've had this for a while and looked around here and there but never really seen anything exactly like this one, he kinda reminds me of the little boy blue painting. I'm sure he's not terribly old but I'd like to know more about him. He is missing something in his hands and I'd venture to guess a fishing pole and a stringer of fish but not certain on that. He is bigger than other figures I've seen at 14.75" call and only has a stamped 53? on his underside but that's all I've found...what do you guys think?

 

I think he's a 'sailor suit boy', not Little Boy Blue. He sure has that German porcelain bisque look with those rosy cheeks, but maybe a later piece trying to look-like an older original.

My guess what he was holding behind his back: There was a little girl figurine and they came as a set. He was hiding a bouquet.

After looking up the German sailor boy that outfit is spot on. Still hunting down aprox age and maker

 

Boys in sailor suits was such an Edwardian thing, so I'd say early 20th c and German manufacture. Probably a company that made piano babies -- Conte and Boehm? Heubach? I dunno.
