IMG_5796.JPG IMG_5797.JPG IMG_5802.JPG This leather Hunting bag 6.5" wide at bottom and 7.5" high - tail is 5.5" long. Purchased at a local estate sale here in Ohio. I have not been able to find one like it on line. I hope someone here can answer my questions:
How Old - Is leather Bark Tanned - does the tooled design have any meaning.

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

If you're talking the middle image you posted, we can only see a portion of what I think is the design....best for you to re-take an image of the whole tooled design, AND, more importantly, you would do well to go back in to your posting, and before you hit to post, click on the very TOP IMAGE in the list that says to "Post every image full size".....that will help us all to help YOU!!!

It could also be helpful in identifying the type of tannage if you can post a photo of the inside of the top flap (which would be the inner surface of the hide), and any view of the stitching.
