Leather attaché? State of California. Age help

    I picked this up at me favorite thrift the other day and was hoping someone might be able to tell me how old it might be?
    I call it an attaché but maybe it is called something else.
    It is 18" wide x 13" tall and the depth is expandable to 7"
    There are no makers marks or stamps. Only the State of California in gold.
    And is it worth more than the $10.00 they charged me? lol
