Found this trivet type item in my lock-up

Two footed with an adjustable third foot on the rear to allow it to slope at different angles.

    Cast iron.

    Any ideas ?

that winged 3 rd foot looks more like a catch....or latch.....
when I see things like this , I go to vent covers ...heating or stove related...

    my 2 cents...

    Thanks Kronos.

For keeping the flat iron or pan warm.

Mine has been painted so it must have been for decorative use.

Ok, I'm missing something as I don't understand how this would work? The listing says you hook it over fire front/rail? Then it would be hanging and you couldn't put anything on it?

The two small feet rest on the coal fire front and the rear one is adjusted underneath so it supports it and the plate hangs flat.

I can't find a picture that explains it apart from this one which is the same idea.
