I recently sold a pair of Carlton ware coffee cups on eBay. Looking at the marks they could be as early as 1926. Question is, might they have lead in the decor? The person who I sold them to has posted feedback suggesting that they are using them to drink coffee out of. Please see photos below. Might these have lead in the gold paint? I certainly wouldn't be tempted to drink out of something as old and that might have heavy metals in it.

They may have lead in them
No more to worry about than your leaded crystal wine glass
The worries about metals are no more credible than human caused global warming

They are lovely. People ate off Fiesta ware for decades and they are supposedly loaded with lead.

Wasn’t it uranium that was in fiesta ware? Maybe lead too?

I just heard that George Washington’s dentures were made partially of lead. Cow teeth, horse teeth, and human slave teeth. That can’t have been great for him. Granted I got this information from a comedian and have done zero fact checking. So grain of salt plz.

Very credible then, although there is no relation at all between lead in glaze and global warming.

I wouldn't worry about the lead content though.:)
