Got these cheap at the local antiques shop.

I've seen many of these online in various states of repair. I bought these because overall, they were in far better shape than many I've seen, online and offline.

I wanted to know when they were made. Le Jockey Club de Paris is one of the most famous clubs in Paris, and it's been active for well over 100 years. But I can't find any information on when these types of binoculars were made. I'm guessing, between the 1880s-1930s. But that's a bridge of 50 years...

Probably 1900 to 1910. WWI caused a massive rift in styles by the time France was making any 'luxury' goods again.

I think they were made by Lemaire of Paris because of that insect on the eye piece frames. Those insects are honey bees, Lemaire's logo.

Here is a query about Lemaire's opera glasses posted a month or so ago. One of the replies tells/shows where to see logo on metal frame. Ooops... that other query was posted by you.

The following links has info on value of Lemaire's glasses, but these being of the Jockey Club would probably be added value.

BTW, there are several Jockey Club binoculars on eBay at the moment. Most of them have their cases. I didn't do a search for past auctions to see what some sold for.

Welllll, scrape my previous replies. I just got a closer look at the eye piece frames of some online to see that it is not a honey bee on the frames. It is a clover type thingy. Sorry.

I saw a pair MADE by LeMaire at the flea-market last week. Almost identical to these. So understandable mistake. I wanted to buy them (They were DIRT CHEAP), but they were in terrible condition. I mean TERRIBLE.

Then I saw these. I'd seen copies of them online before, but these seemed to be in very nice shape. The focus-wheel is slightly chipped and the lenses are a bit scratched (they're 110 years old, give 'em a break, eh?) but they still work very well and the scratches don't affect the quality of the view.

Oh, and the logo is a flower, not the LeMaire bumblebee.
