I was instructed by lawyers in London to give a quote to clear this house.
    I viewed it today.

90 year old spinster hoarder who passed away 2 months ago, no relatives.

2 bed small town house, Its a bit of a mess.

I got the job and start on Monday.

I've done a quick cursory search

I've found a gold ring and 2 silver bracelets, stacks of costume jewellry.

Lots of boxed Barbie and Sindy dolls.

The hall stand will be coming with me too.

I've yet to see the attic and shed.

It sure looks like someone went through there opening drawers and cabinets and just throwing things onto the floor.
She may not have been quite as messy as it seems.

According to neighbours that is how she lived, she would not let anyone in, but someone had to break in after she collapsed and paramedics could not get access.

Really fascinating to be able acquire the whole contents of a house. Pardon my ignorance, and feel free to tell me it's none of my business, but in general, do you pay the bank a sum to do the clean-out and own the contents or do they pay you get it empty and tidy and you keep what is usable?

They pay me and I keep the contents and dump the rubbish.

    totally agree
She wasn't neat and didn't often clean the sink, but the open cabinets with stuff just pulled down and onto the floor is classic.

Even though it's a job I would love to do, and at the end of the day needs to be done

Still find it quite sad though

It's in a bit of a state, alas, but there are going to be some finds along with the rubbish. I just hope nothing small and squeaky has made itself at home. Then again that would make fun and games for the Dog. Or maybe for some yorkies if you have some handy. I'm told they're murder on rodents.

Id KILL to have your gig Davey ! of course I say that not dealing with the mold, heat or cold, smells, etc, etc.I must say,Ive watched hoarders a few times(mother loves that show, and also calls me one!) and I dont recall empty cabinets hanging open with piles on the floor. Good grief. I agree there should be some treasures. But man that looks like a job and a half to clear. Looks like the house was burglared or ransacked. I almost would want to set it alight and watch it burn (Sorry, that’s probably insensitive)

The best ones are the ones where the family hires him after they have removed what they want & he still ends up with a pile of coins & jewelry.:jawdrop::jawdrop::jawdrop: :rolleyes: :facepalm:

You've got your work cut out for you, brother Davey, but that looks like a lot of fun to dig through. I'd gladly dive in.

    Good luck and happy hunting

I should very much like to see what the emptied-out house looks like. To me, it looks adorable! Poor lady - no wonder she didn't want to leave.

Davy, can you estimate how long it will take you to get it down to the bones?

Oh, duh! Of course you can. That's what you do. Anyway, can we see the inside and outside at that point?
