    Hello!

Figured I'd get some opinions / share this photo I picked up today!

It is a Cabinet Card Photograph of President Mckinley

    The Card Measures A Whopping : 23 1/2" X 18 3/4" (inches)

Has anyone seen anything like this before?!?!
I have not, but I've only been doing this for about 2 1/2 years now, so guess it could be more common then not.

It's by a well known photographer around Boston area.

    Elmer Chickering

Looks like the normal Cabinet Card board etc but is huge!!

Was this a display in his gallery?

Any help would be appreciated! IMG_3752.JPG

I don't think large mounted photographs like this are called cabinet cards. I believe the Cabinet Cards are 6 1/2" x 4 1/2". There is a larger cabinet card called an Imperial, Imperial cabinet card, that measures 7" x 10". I have several mounted photographs - mounts 14" x 12", photos 9" x 7", dating from 1895-1910. I have another with a mount size of 20"x 18." It is a portrait shot of a great uncle that dates from the early 1940s. I would call yours a mounted photograph.

Scroll a good 3/4ths of the way down the following webpage to the section: "Standard Commercial Sizes : ‘Card Photographs’." A few odd mounted photo sizes are listed.

Scroll about 1/4th to 1/3rd of the way down the page to the "Card Photographs" section. Here is another listing of mounted photo sizes:

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

Susan is correct. This is not a cabinet card. Those are only specific sizes as she mentioned in her first three sentences.

That being said, I call the other ones card-mounted photographs OR mounted photographs, but I don't think there is a common recognized name for them.

And yes, that is pretty large for a mounted photograph!

Or to help convince the people of the Philippines that they REALLY didn't want to be independent, but wanted to rely on the largess of Mr. McKinley???

They used to sell things like this when someone was elected. It may have hung in a school or public office. It could also have been printed after he died as a memorial piece and hung just about anywhere.
