Featured Large Soapstone sculpture, Help with carver

I wanted to show you all this awesome soapstone sculpture I bought for resale but i may keep it. This is officially the heaviest rock in my house lol.
It is 10" tall and weight is over 7 Lbs.
I was hoping for native American made, but couldn't find this name or signature anywhere. There are some Zuni carvers with the last name, but no R L.
Any help appreciated.

I profess no special knowledge about Zuni carvers...this book has been helpful to me, tho', an' there are three Shack names in the Carvers Index...2 of them have first names that begin with R.
None of the illustrated carvings from these folks are anywhere near as large as your piece, but the name is unusual enough that there's a good chance one of them created it. Good Luck!

 

I would also look into Navajo for this table fetish.

 

I just love it! We have some Chinese and Native American carved soapstone in our upcoming sale and it was interesting to see it test as jade. Your piece is incredible! I also love the terminology 'table fetish'! I have seen the small carved pieces referred to that but never table fetish.

 

Finally , A proper signature!

 

Now if I can just find it!

I spoke with Daryl Shack. He said it could be Russell or Roselle, but not sure .
