I bought the painting from a lady who has apparently been put in charge of unpacking and systematically clearing a large storage space consisting of several tightly packed rooms. I could only enter halfway into the first room. There seem
to be several antiques, vintage items and collectables inside.

The label is the only thing on the back on the painting (I did try and find more info on the company Ellis Morris) Any comments and guesses regarding the artist name would be appreciated. It’s large 118cmx58cm.
    Thank you and keep well.

To my eye, the artist's signature reads "Marini." But the Ellis Morris label indicates that it's likely a decorative painting so Marini may be a nom de brosse.

Hi Debora, thank you for the comment. I will anyway search Marini. Was really hoping it was more that a just a decorative painting. Still I find it quite striking especially when viewed from a little distance. Thanks again

Anyway I will wait and see what else comes out of this storage. Should be interesting either way..

To me the Marini sigs don’t match Bolands picture and the work looks to be by a different hand. I may be wrong though.

To me the Marini also doesn’t match. Interestingly enough I found very similar paintings in style and composition by the italian artist Mario Fattori. But also then the signature doesn’t match.

I will look at signatures some more for possible variations.

That's interesting. A little copycat thing going on.

Agreed. Interesting and a little strange. Not sure why someone will copy the works of a artist who’s paintings are not really considered high value. Also it almost now looks like the last part of the signature on my picture is partially covered with paint (but Im really not sure at all, maybe just my imagination) However the signature will still not match. All considering I still really like it (so it’s all good)
