This vase was hiding behind some plastic Christmas sprigs with baubles and ribbon, so I walked past it three times before I actually saw it. This was amazing to me, as it is large at 14 inches at its peak and extravagantly colored. It is hand blown. I don't know what to think of it, or where it might have come from. I showed two photos of the bottom to show it is unsigned. I couldn't find anything like it - can you?

I love when I find a score hiding in plain sight. A couple of favorite finds like that were a danish coffee table late in the day at a garage sale (it was loaded with unsold items, but yes the table was for sale..!) Also one estate sale where a very cool vintage half mannequin was wearing a hat (hat for sale), mannequin was for sale too!

Hope the glass turns out to be something nice! Finger's crossed.

You and me both. My favorites are finding a Minton Dish hiding under some hats at a designer event and a Blenko Vase in amongst the Christmas items.

I hope too that it is not just a Teleflora extravaganza, but maybe a studio piece. This is why I ask the lovely people here for help. While my eye has improved through your tutelage, I still am uncertain about many things.

Thank you for your happy thoughts.

I agree. Older pieces were often more structured in their design. This seems a free for all of decoration on an underlying opalescent glass.

Not Fenton There was a glass craftsman at the Winter Fair in Ohio last December who made and offered items like this. He did a lot of older designs in modern colors. I didn't purchase anything so don't know if he signed his items, but I'm going to look for him this year. My point being that I believe this vase to be rather new, possibly a craftsman piece, and sensational. Love the colors and I can imagine it with flowers looking wonderful.

It has a ground off pontil mark, so the odds are good of a studio piece. This is one where you want to find the maker, just so you can kick him for not signing his/her work.

Love this information. It is so helpful. It gives me a thought process on how to assess the vase. Thank you. I hope you find your Ohio craftsman at the Winter Fair.

I was concerned as I am running low on space. It will have to find a spot in the sun for it though.

It is quite the thing, isn't it. I was shocked and thrilled to get it.

I have tried. I put all the sides through Google image search as well as Bing Visual Search. Nothing like it out there. Studio piece - that is a good insight.
