Large african wood carving - trying to ID country of origin & symbolism

    This piece just came into our store, and we are trying to identify the country of origin and symbolism of the art. Intricately carved, the work measures almost 24 inches high and has a noticeable tilt which we think is part of the symbolism. It is unsigned as far as I can see. Has anyone seen anything like it? Thanks in advance! ... Dave

    It's an African totem carving in ebony.
    They're not signed, and the lean is due to the branch used.
    I forget the exact country of origin.....

    AHH yes...the MAKONDE tribe !
    They're known for this type of carving.
