image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg The first thing that my wife and I loved about this one, the opposing color change of the main trees and the trees behind them. To me, this change balanced the painting quite nicely. It's signed but it's very hard to read. The frame says "Made in Belgium". The verso shows no indication thst this has been reframed. Any ideas on the painting and signature? Unfortunately, who ever owned this before didn't take care of it, as it is cracking in a lot a spots. Thank you for looking.

When I took an art class the big "no no" was never have symmetrical scenes like your trees. Always have an uneven amount of trees, etc. like in nature. I am no expert but it looks like a weekend painter did this. BWDIK? ;)

Factory picture for the tourist and lower end decorator market, possibly as early as 1960s. From this period one can't be sure of country of origin. It might even be Belgium, but that's probably just the frame.

Artist unlikely to have been a real person...but one can't completely discount the possibility. More likely the sig used by the studio for this line of pictures.

Please note: I am not criticizing the picture artistically, simply describing the conditions under which it was produced.

I do understand your comments and fully respect them, thank you. I can tell that you've been around the art world for a little and your answers and professionalism shows in your answers. Wish I knew you in person, rather than here. You would be a great mentor.

The trees are conical No real trees I know of except possibly some desert species have such a shape. The signature is unduly obtrusive. The bridge is of oriental form and out of scale with the trees. Apart from points already noted.
